Hot Jobs ESS

Can you believe half of the year is already over?  I do not know about you, but it feels like time speeds up as I get older.  Speaking of speed, companies are trying to move faster than normal as they are keenly aware of the war for talent.  Companies are trying to do many little things to swing the momentum back to them but are struggling to keep it there.

Each day I am amazed at how small the managed care industry is. Everyone seems to know someone who can affect your ability to land the right job. Your industry reputation is important. How you treat people both in and out of your office affects your ability to successfully get the next great opportunity. Too often, we see people so focused on their personal agenda that they do not take time to recognize the people who are helping them achieve their goals.

If you need help finding your next position or if you are struggling finding the right talent for your company, please let me know as I am sure I can help.

Ask the Recruiter – What reminders do you have for phone interviews?

Phone interviews are a great way to put your best foot forward.  The key to any interview, especially phone interviews, is preparation.  Below are a couple reminders to help you get past the phone interview and invited to the company.

  1. Prepare your information – Because no one can see you, you can have all of your work files and examples of your work laid out in front of you.  Organize them by skill, experience, company or whatever format helps you remember tangible results you can discuss.
  2. Stand and smile – We all sound better and our voice projects better when we stand rather than sit.  Standing while on the phone will help you sound better.  Lastly, smile when you speak as it emits a positive impression to the person on the other end of the phone.  One final tip is to have a use a mirror as it will force you to stand and help you focus on smiling.
  3. Do your research – Mission statements and core values should be reviewed during your preparation.  Most questions asked surround the company values.

Reviewing the company values, matching your work experience to those values, standing, and smiling will all help you be invited to the next stage.  If you need help preparing for a phone or in person interview, please let me know.
